USFWS Director Don Ashe takes a look at a Kirtland’s Warbler nest in Michigan. The birds were down to 170 pairs in the 1970s, and are now number more than 2,000. Fishing Report June 28, 2014

Walleye are being taken int he islands area, with the major effort being seen int he Rattlesnake and Green islands area.  Most anglers are trolling, with some drifting.

The mayfly hatch has seen many anglers utilizing worm harnesses moving toward smaller blades to catch fish, and trollers going to smaller spoons.

Fishing Reports June 27 2013

Walleye fishing has been good in recent weeks, with most charter customers taking home limits.  Many reports of limits, followed by fun fishing, are coming in.

Most of the walleye action is happening around the islands, with a concentration in the areas west of South Bass Island, near Rattlesnake and Green islands.

Trollers are pulling both spoons (mostly smaller) and worm harnesses.

The OSWCD’s Women in Conservation series will host a fishing trip on July 16.

OSWCDin cooperation with Tibbels Marina in Danbury Township, is offering a special opportunity for women to take a chartered fishing trip onto Lake Erie.  The trip will be held on Wednesday July 16 from 5 to 9 p.m.
